     May/June 2017

    Dear MPS Families,

We made it to the last month of school. I cannot thank you enough for making Manning Primary School a positive learning environment where all students can be successful. Please continue to support our efforts to maintain safety and order in our building. Teachers will teach until the last day of school. Discipline policies and procedures will guide our actions until the last day of school. Your support and cooperation are most important.

State standardized testing is over; however, our students will continue to take Benchmark Assessments and MAP assessments. Please stress the importance of these assessments by encouraging students to read for 15-20 minutes every night, sleep well at night, eat a good breakfast every morning, and do their best on each test question. These assessments help us measure student progress and make sound judgements about their educational future.

    **  TEACHER REQUESTS for 2017-2018  **

Many parents request a teacher for the upcoming school year.

We do try to honor those requests as long as they meet our criteria.

All requests must be submitted by completing the official MPS request form, which will be available on May 1, 2017.

Requests will not be accepted before May 1, 2017 nor after June 2, 2017.  Requests will be dated as they are turned in.  Students will be assigned to a teacher based on several criteria (academic levels, race, gender, etc.).

Teacher assignment is at the discretion of the Principal.  All of our teachers are highly qualified and all of our teachers plan and teach by the State Standards.

    3rd Grade Families -

We will be walking to Manning Elementary School on Thursday, May 11, to meet administrators, faculty, and staff members.

If you do NOT give permission for your child to walk to Manning Elementary School, please send a note no later than Wednesday, May 10.  We are looking forward to touring MES and hearing about the activities and programs they offer.    If you have any questions regarding this upcoming experience, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
